Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album makes African history by receiving US Gold certification.

Afrobeats superstar Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun “Wizkid” has accomplished yet another astounding milestone in his illustrious career.
On Monday, August 29th, 2022, his fourth studio album, “Made in Lagos,” was certified Gold in the United States.
The Recording Industry Association of America certified Wizkid’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album as Gold after it sold over 500,000 copies in the United States.
Wizkid is the first and only Nigerian and African singer whose album sells more than 500,000 copies in the United States.
The album’s biggest hit was the ‘Essence’ remix, which included American pop singer Justin Bieber and Afrobeats superstar Tems.
“Essence,” a Grammy nominee, was given “Best Collaboration Award” at the 2020 BET Awards, making Wizkid the first African artist (together with Tems) to win a major BET award category.
The song was a two-time platinum seller in the United States, where it peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.
